Neil Allen is on a distinguished road

I'm a MASSIVE fan of many 1980s and 1990s anime OVA's. Among my favorites are:

Robot Carnival (Starlight Angel):

I fell in love with this little short the late night I saw it randomly played on the Sci-Fi channel so many years ago. I never forgot it. It left a huge impression on me.

Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend (Watch at your own risk! I consider this a brilliant masterpiece. It pretty much invented the tentacle porn trope, but there is so much more to it than that. It is gorgeous, groundbreaking, cruel, brutal, funny, and many other things):

Cyber City Oedo 808 (I don't use the term "bad ass", like, ever, but that is the best way to describe this anime. It is SO AWESOME. If you're looking for a great forgotten anime that isn't stupid and isn't nearly as outrageous as Urotsukidoji, I highly recommend this:

Spirit Warrior: Peacock King:

Vampire Hunter D. This one is pretty famous. I wouldn't call it forgotten, but it is from the same era as the others.

The Ys OVAs:

Demon City Shinjuku, The opening fight scene to this is so incredible!:

As a creator, anime OVA's from the '80s are one of my biggest inspirations. I still watch them regularly and am often on the hunt for more.\

Cool to see another fan of California Crisis. That is a good anime, though the ending is bizarre. I think the creators were planning on continuing the story, but perhaps it wasn't popular enough to warrant another episode.
