I really like it. I didn't at first, I was prejudiced against all things that didn't look like Timmverse, but it grew on me. I love Miss Martian and Kid Flash and the way they portray Robin. The characterizations are all well done. I hope they release this as seasons and not the usual season 1 volume 1 garbage they usually do and make you wait for a full season set. Anyway excellent show even if it took too long to continue the season.

I didn't like the season's first half, but it did get better near the end. I do like seeing Icon and Rocket on the show.

5 years later. Tim Drake is now Robin. Wonder Girl and BatGirl are now on the team. Kid Flash, Artiemis, and Aqualad are MIA.

I always liked the show OK, but the long breaks made it difficult for me to really care. I enjoyed watching it, but I wouldn't have cared it it was cancelled either (that's pretty much how I feel about GL right now, also).

But this week's show was very good, and if this is the new direction then I'm all in.

I enjoyed seeing so many more DC heroes, and trying to figure out who was who under the masks. I wonder if Wally will return wearing the Flash suit. Unlikely, probably, since Barry is the Flash in comics right now.

I just hope they can hold it together and give us a steady, solid season.

Young Justice is pretty good, I think, but it's not anywhere near the level of what Justice League was. I liked the fact that it was structured with a coherent timeline, but the whole "five years later" thing sorta blows that out of the water. The animated shows have always been my first and largest exposure to DC, so I do like it when they change things up and add in new people. I just wish things were a bit more coherent. Wally West is the Flash in the DCAU and Kid Flash in Young Justice-- stuff like that can throw people off, but I also see how that is wholly representative of the actual state of DC comics affairs.

The Green Lantern cartoon that's on right now is something else completely. I'd consider it a bastardization of the comics. I wouldn't say it's awful, it just straddles the line between childish and not a bit too much for my liking, and it veers away from the comics. For instance, the only Red Lantern I've seen in speak in the comics as coherently as Razer does in the show is Atrocitus; no other Red Lantern says anything other babbling about anger and such.

The "DCAU" you are talking about ended with the cancellation of JUSTICE LEAGUE six years ago. Since then, as you know, Barry has become the new Flash so Wally has been downgraded in animated form. Most people probably don't even remember who was Flash on JUSTICE LEAGUE six years ago, and the ones that do remember are probably fans enough to know why it was changed.

I'm sure there's probably a very small demographic of people who noticed and didn't get it, but mostly there are only two camps: fans who get it, and non-fans who don't care.

You're absolutely right about the distance between the end of the old DCAU and the beginning of the show, and that was something I hadn't considered. I keep the episodes around to be watched periodically for what I'd consider a "good cartoon fix." It's something I don't get a lot of anymore. Probably has something to do with being 24 and not considering new cartoons being "up to snuff." (That's not just the new stuff DC puts out-- I eagerly await all the new movies-- but most cartoons just don't seem to be what they used to be. It may be that I give them the credit that I did when I was younger and wouldn't have the same appreciation for the same cartoons I hold in such esteem if I were to watch them nowadays.)

I don't get this need for every comic book property to be the same when translated to other media.

It's not like all the other lantern corps débuts were something worth setting in stone anyway.
I have "that issue"-- comparing adaptations to source material and finding them lacking. I can do that with this show because I was actually around to read a good deal of the source material that the show is based off of. Now, were I to be more involved with the Justice League comics prior to the show coming out, I could see how I would have the same issue, but I've noticed that doesn't happen nearly as much when you see the show, then go back and read the source material.

Now, I'm not in the business of telling you that my taste in cartoons trumps your taste in cartoons and, thus, proves that GL:TAS fails to live up to the standards of its predecessors. However, I've no problem telling you where I think the show is lacking.

For starters, the CGI is a horrible put off. I can't remember anything since Zoids that I've found CGI to be a good fit for, and even then, I'm pretty sure it was integrated into traditional (or traditional-looking) animation. I think the premise of them being sent out to the middle of BFE causes it to lose appeal in my books because that just puts distance between Hal, Kilowog, and the other characters that I actually give a hoot about. The introduction of Mogo a couple episodes back collided straight into what I previously knew about Mogo, and it seemed to be trying to put Hal into a position within the Corps that Hal is not.

That being said, I can see how the show has bits here and there just for the fans. I thought the appearance of the pre-Blue Lantern Blue Lantern (whose name escapes me at the moment) was pretty cool, although I would've liked to see a little ring action on his part. The recurrence of the yellow stones makes me wonder if the show will redo the origins of the Sinestro Corps, which I guess I wouldn't wholly be against. (Bring the origin away from an anti-matter universe and into the regular matter universe, because that stuff didn't make a lot of sense and left it up to interpretation whether or not there was already a corps that represented the yellow end of the emotional spectrum.) With the cameo in the Mogo episode, I have a feeling the show is going to incorporate the other Corps eventually, but they are taking. Way. Too. Long.

It's not a bad show. It's just not giving me enough to actually want to hold on to it like some of the other DC cartoons have.
