We spent some time with a few of the panels and celebrities. There was an hour long Q&A with Kevin Smith. There was also a Degrassi celeb there for my wife. (although, thanks to Degrassi, and Kevin smith proclaiming his love for the show... she's a Smith fan, too). Before I met my wife, I'd never even heard of Degrassi. Since then, I've discovered that my wife is an addict to all things degrassi.

She tagged along on this and certainly wasn't bored. In fact, she insisted that we get there earlier on Sunday, just so we could sit up closer to 'Liberty' (Sarah Barrable-Tishauer).

Funny story. We had gotten to the con early on Sunday, expecting to stroll in and find good seating for the Degrassi panel. (as we had done with Kevin Smith on Saturday). After all.. we were special and had weekend passes, right? Yea... and so did the other gazillion people there at the convention center first thing in the morning. Now last year, the state police had closed the con down due to occupancy limit issues, and this year, they'd made better accomodations in order to avoid that problem again. So in order to get in to the show when they got near occupancy, they made you get in line for wristbands (their effective way of keeping a count during the mad rush to enter). Well, the line for these wristbands wrapped around the building, and when we arrived, we were told to get to the back of the line.

At first I thought it was a mistake, but everyone we passed on the line had the same pass as us. Anyway, the line moved quite quickly, and at the point where we entered the building, we decided that we weren't going to wait online any more (we should have been special, dammit!)... so we dodged behind one of the big displays, and popped right out near the coat check area. We checked our coats, and figured we were in! Little did we know that there was another security guard checking for wristbands at the escalators. At this point, we sort of backed up around the Starbucks, and headed down the broken escalator (where the guy in the 'pit' at the bottom was more than a bit surprised to see us... but it was too late... we were down in the events area. Now down in the events area, it's a bit confusing as to where to go, so my wife and I began asking people where the room was that we were looking for. Nobody seemed to know... and that's when it happened.

My wife walks up to one of the Javits center people, and asks about the location of the room. Now this person was coming out of a hallway, and had a few other folks with her, but my wife was in a bit of a tizzy with wanting to get to her room in time for the good seats to be available. She interupts, and the lady politely explains how to get to where we're going. My wife thanks her, apologizes for interrupting, and turns towards me just as I'm turning towards her. I notice that one of the 'people' that the woman that the Javits center woman was with looks a bit familiar, but I'm not quite sure how. Then it hits me. She's 'Liberty'. (the actress that we're there to see). I ask my wife if that lady looks familiar at all. It takes a moment or two, and as they walked into another doorway... my wife smacks me. For the rest of the day, and for every story thereafter (except the ones that I tell)... the opportunity for the missed photograph was "all my fault! Why didn't I recognize her sooner?!?"

Thankfully, the day before, we had been talking to the girl from Pocket Books, and found out that Sarah would be doing a book signing upstairs. We got some neat shots.

Oh... and we saw Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) cruising around Artist Alley, too.

Thats from the top of the escalators on Saturday. My GF was faking her way through some audition to be an anime reporter...

Sorry I missed everyone, Friday I was done by 8 pm. Was ( am ) way worn out witah stuffed nose and head....but still had a blast. Saturday Me and the chicka spent the day there til like 10 - 5. When we showed up the line was down to 41st street ! ( the entrance was on 36th ! )

Dropped some portfolio packages off at a few publishers...I think I even got one in the hands of someone at DC. Fingers crossed. But you really get the feeling that some companies could care less about looking at your stuff lol.

Still all in all I gotta say it was a really fun time.

I know what he's looking for. I just don't have anymore of her that came out. All it was ever intended for was a tease when I posted it.
