I only realize that the dextrous hive I am getting currently in, yet isn't best place to pimping up - well let it stay anyway will add me some good bonuses :) Last edited by andy josean; 06-23-2012 at 03:47 PM. Reason: remark |

Haha. The guys in this town are just mean like that... sigh... Anyways I think you have talent there my friend but you need to keep in mind something I learned not so long ago, you ready?
DON"T BURY YOUR ART UNDER THE CRAFT. I mean don't over fill an spend your very valuable time on all those details when you could be working on structure, perspective and light sources, and then all the necessary details will appear on their own or you will realize they are not that necessary. I'm not saying you make a bad work, but when drawing if structured wrong, a lot of artist over saturate with details trying to hide obvious mistakes. In the other hand I think that your prices are right, in fact pretty good, but what I also learned is that it is always difficult to make money by making commissions when you are just starting. What I did was, that when I realize I wasn't getting any commissions, I started drawing stuff I thought people would like to buy, is easier for people to buy something they like when they see it than ask a commission from an unknown individual, so I started selling drawings on eBay and eventually I started getting a lot of commissions, because people saw my art and wanted something like that but in their own ideas or characters. And every time I run out of commissioners I go back and post on eBay to make some money and the I get new commissions, sometimes I have guys sticking with me for the long run, I have a guy in Australia that have bought about 35 illustrations from me in the last year and another one in Wyoming that have also bought like 60 illos in the last 3 years. Well I'm not sure if this helps you a lot, but spend more time in the art and less in the craft. Also the boxers pic is obviously squeezed so it lost a lot of proportions and perspective, usually a beginners mistake and costumers know it! Best of lucks! http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/Graphic1.jpg |
