Where to Post your Art Work and How to Post it

Where To Post Your Art
  • If you colored someone elses work, it doesn't belong in this forum, it belongs in the Colorist's Showcase.
  • If you inked someone elses work, it doesn't belong in this forum, it belongs in the Inker's Showcase.
  • Do not post someone elses art looking for critiques on their behalf. If they want critiques they can register and post the work themselves.
  • Do not post art created by someone else without their permission (except if you own the rights to the character and have arranged an agreement with the artist that you can use the artwork anywhere you see fit). Do not post "pretty pictures I found on a site somewhere". That's ripe fair for copyright infringement.
  • If you are a writer pimping art for you project or studio, it doesn't belong here.
  • If you have a piece that was done from start to finish, pencils, inks and colors all done by you... it is perfectly fine to post it here in the Artist Showcase.
The bottom line is there are different sections of this site for a reason and we need people to start posting their work in the proper places. Anything that's not supposed to be here will be deleted.

Hope that makes things more clear.

How to post your images
First, you need to upload your image to a web host. Either you will own your own domain (www.yourdomain.com) and have a host, or you can use a free site like:
http://www.photobucket.com
http://www.imageshack.us

We highly recommend against angelfire or geocities for hosting images, as you cannot link them remotely (ie; put them up on this site).

After you upload your image, call it up in your web browser, then highlight the url in the address bar, and press "control+ C" to copy it.

Then start a new thread here, and simply paste the url in between the image tags ( [img], [/img] ), or click that little yellow icon above, and just paste the url for the image into the box that pops up.

If you still have trouble posting an image, then feel free to PM me (Steve Robinson).

For Deviant Art users: DA is a bit flaky when it comes to hotlinking images. My suggestion would be to either use a free (and more reliable) service like those listed above, or put it as a link in your post, but add a "?" to the end of the link (minus the quotes). This will avoid a "forbidden" access denied error.
