I thought I'd already done this, but upon trying to remember, I realized that the night I was doing it, the comp acted up. It's taken me almost a year to get it done. Talk about procrastination!
Name: Christina Telles DOB: 10-02-80 Favorite Authors: Edgar Allan Poe (If he was the only author I was allowed toread for the rest of my life, I'd be a happy camper!), Andrew Greely, R.L. Stein, Christopher Pike Favorite Artists: Don't have any. Favorite Comics: Nightmare World and Sore Thumbs. Other than that, I really don't read many comics anymore... Favorite Bands: Beatles, George Harrison, Traveling Wilburys, Eagles, KISS, ELO, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Darius Danesh, Snoop, Will Smith, Garth Brooks, Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block (Yes, I still listen to them. Give me a break. ), Slipknot, Marylin Manson... SO many others. I'm ALL about Music!Favorite Movies: Anything Directed by David Cronenberg, anything written by Stephen King (even though I can't bring myself to read any of his books. Rambles too much for me), Lolita(1962), Lord of the Rings trilogy, 1776 (been watching it at least once a day lately), Alfie(1966), Texas Chainsaw Massacre(1974), Leatherface:TCM3, Psycho (Whole series, and the remake), pretty much anything with Bruce Willis, The Commitments, ALL the Beatles Movies... Tons more. LOVE movies! TV shows: Late Night with Conan O'Brien, Quantum Leap, Simpsons, Crossing Jordan, Medium, Law & Order:SVU, LOST, ER, Family Guy, Futurama, M*A*S*H, any of the Kratt Brothers' shows First Comic: Probably a Spiderman of some kind (Amazing Spiderman?) that my cousin gave me. An Interesting Fact About Me: Back in '89 I was on a TV show and it got cancelled about the same time. They only made one more episode. Interesting fact #2: I don't swear. And, yes, I'm 25. Fact #3: Dirk STILL owes me a dinner. From almost 6 years ago!

Amazing what happens when you scroll down at Digital Webbing a year or so in.
You find something awesome like Nightmare World. Wow! Good stuff. Name: Ed Dunphy Brief History: I was born during the Kennedy administration, but I had nothing to do with the assassination, the cover-up or the conspiracy theories. Honest. I can remember when the most corrupt vice-president in history was Spiro Agnew (I know, records are made to be broken). I used to run around the neighborhood playing “Armyman”, shooting (with a stick or even absolutely nothing) at imaginary enemies, not realizing that the kid down the street’s older brother was at Khe Sanh getting shot AT. I always loved fantastic stories, especially comic books. I found science fiction and fantasy in High school and was transported to heaven. I tried to emulate my favorite writers and discovered that I was blatantly ripping them off. When I went to college, I had to choose between biology and writing as a major. I chose biology, because, I reasoned foolishly, I could always write in my spare time. Can’t do science part-time. Ultimately, I was able to earn a living in science. I doubt I could afford bread if I were a full-time writer. But there are days I regret the choice. I found D&D in college and have spent, literally, thousands of hours and dollars on that hobby. I have no idea how I graduated in 4 years. I still run a couple of games, one for my wife and our adult friends and another for my teenage daughter and her friends. My 3 year old is eyeing up the dice and figurines, biding his time. I was published as a writer in the comics field a number of times in the 1990s. Munden’s Bar, Mongrel, Slash, Avalon. Sci-fi, horror, humor, adventure, superheroes, fantasy. I had more in the pipeline when First Comics went tits up. I had so much in the pipeline when Comico died that I thought it was due to an intestinal blockage of my work. Alas, it was just a very messy suicide. That soured me on the biz for years. More recently, I’ve been putting out a weekly webcomic based on my years of lab experience, called Lab Bratz. I’ve got my own horror anthology going at GraphicSmash called A Gathering of Crows. I have a number of other projects in mind, but I need artists, more money and more time in my hectic schedule. My Temporal Extender ™ hasn’t arrived in the mail yet and it’s starting to piss me off. Favorite Authors: Larry Niven, John Ostrander, J. Michael Straczinski, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Glen Cook, Garth Ennis, Kurt Busiek, various and sundry. I read a lot more news and non-fiction these days, much my wife’s chagrin. Favorite Artists: I’m not up on the current crop of comic artists, but as an old schooler, I grew up with Neal Adams, Gil Kane, and Mike Grell as my favorites. As a grown up, I found Tom Mandrake, Tim Truman, Jan Duursema, Frank Miller. I really like the work done by my Lab Bratz cohort, Max Velati, who I met through Digital Webbing. Favorite Comics: Grimjack, Jon Sable, 100 Bullets (Brian Azzarello was my editor back in my Comico/Northstar days), The Preacher (finally), Rising Stars (finally), Cerebus (finishing off the last book)…I’ve been getting more TPBs and GNs lately. As a kid, I was an Avengers freak. Favorite WebComics that are not mine: Penny Arcade, Order of the Stick, Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Nightmare World, Piled Higher & Deeper, Dork Tower. Favorite Bands: I like to put on the digital radio and grab whole genres these days. Depending on my mood, I’ll bop from Adult Alternative to New Age to Smooth Jazz to Blues to Classic Rock in a single afternoon. Sometimes it’s a bit of Top 40 or R&B, Motown, techno… No country, no deathmetal, no rap. I’d listen to birds farting before I listened to country. Favorite Movies: Godfather 1 & 2, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Matrix 1, The Magnificent 7, Saving Private Ryan (except the cheesy cheat at the end), The Quiet Man, Star Wars 4-6 (although I really do want to lose a weekend watching all 6 together), Bladerunner. A ton more... You know, I felt guilty for not reading the very newest comics, but not for watching older movies. Weird, huh? TV Shows: Anything on Comedy Central, Battlestar Galactica, CNN, The Weather Channel (Yeah, I'm an old guy), History Channel, Discovery Channel, College Football, NBA basketball. First Comic: The memory banks don’t go back that far! I remember getting Avengers #100 as a present when I had my tonsils taken out. I know I had been reading comics for years before then, but what??? Interesting Facts About Me: I’m a cancer researcher by day, as well as a damn good dad and a devoted husband. I’ve never won the lottery, but that hasn’t stopped me from trying. I can be contacted directly at: LabBratz -at- hotmail.com (Really, I have a USB hub in my skull!) Every day is a new adventure...
Good to meet you Ed! I've actually read A GATHERING OF CROWS and LAB BRATZ before... so I'm tickled that you've stumbled across NIGHTMARE WORLD.
Of course, this is also yet more proof that I need to get out there and spread the word more... ![]() SINcerely, Dirk Manning

Brief History: I'm not as interesting as Dirk is, so I'll make mine short and sweet haha. I was born, I am living, and some day I'll die. Okay.. so that wasn't very sweet. Favorite Authors: Edgar Allen Poe, Jack London, Stephen King, and Chris Clairemont (okay, so he's not really an "author" but close enough for me). Favorite Artists: Nightmare World does have some great artists! I also like Jim Lee and Todd McFarlane. Favorite Comics: X-Men, Pitt, Sandman (Vertigo), The recent Crisis runs in the JLA and DC Favorite Bands: Type O Negative is my absolute favorite... also Danzig, Leaves' Eyes, Draconian, Moonspell, Lacuna Coil, Beseech, Theatre of Tragedy, On Thorns I Lay, Howling Syn, Xandria, much more Favorite Movies: Sin City, The Boondock Saints, Equlibrium, From Dusk til Dawn, Interview with the Vampire, Brotherhood of the Wolf, much more First Comic: X-Men #1 (1991).. first comic I picked up when I was 10. An Interesting Fact About Me: I was once in a black metal band called Nocturnal Solace, where we opened for bands such as Dying Fetus and Mushroomhead, and others. I also went to a supposed professional wrestling school, but it ended up being a scam that left me with a $600 hole in my pocket. Last edited by Dirk Manning; 09-05-2007 at 04:40 PM. |

hey there, I'm FullMetalCornflake. I run the "Nightmare World Residents" group on myspace. I try my best to promote NW like crazy and I wear my "Cthulhu is my homeboy" shirt with pride. I get the funniest looks from people when I wear it in public. That really takes me back...
Other names I go by are "Metalgrrl" and "Paula". Most of my internet buddies call me Metal for short... My birthdate is Feb 3rd and I am the truest aquarian ever... Favorite Authors: H.P. Lovecraft, Neil Gaiman, Charles De Lint, J. K. Rowling Favorite Artists: Tony Moore, Chris Bachalo, Dave Mckean Favorite Comics: Everything by Neil Gaiman, THE WALKING DEAD, PREACHER, NIGHTMARE WORLD... Favorite Bands: Opeth, Tori Amos, Porcupine Tree, Hypocrisy, Tool (new album spring 2006!) Chris Cornell (really anything he does be it Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, etc. not too thrilled with Audioslave, they are ok, so I'm stuck in the 90's, sue me), Katatonia, Ednaswap, Carcass, Lunachicks, Jerry Cantrell, Kaki King, Oingo Boingo, old school Sepultura, Slayer, Dark Tranquillity... Favorite Movies: Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead, The Wedding Singer, Evil Dead 2, (anything with John Cusack)... First Comic: Evil Ernie, Youth Gone Wild Hope to post here more often... My GOD, please, Ed, give us sub-forums for the web comics! It's hard to tell one from the other, and has to be killing everyone's eyes...
I mean, poor Ray already has glasses, and pretty soon will be blind all together. You have the power to put his eyes at ease while he spends 25 hours a day on the message boards! I’ll pop back in about a month or so to check in with everything... Until then: (This is a protest sign, not a kewl pics sign!)Give us sub-forums! Give us sub-forums! Give us sub-forums! jkf |
