View Full Version : Clubhouse Vigilantes -- a web comic thread

Hi all --

So I thought since I am at the very beginning stages of publishing my first long form webcomic, I'd start a thread for folks who might be interested in that sort of thing.

I'm still working out an effective blurb for the comic. For now I'd just say it has to do with a group of kids who are a little too obsessed with the superheroes that populate their city, which results in some really terrible choices and horrific consequences.

Written by me and drawn by Diana Peredo.

The first turnaround here is of Bernadette.

Love the style! Also really REALLY like the expressions ... it adds so much to the work. Good luck with your project!

While my artist is getting the web comic going, I'm getting the nuts and bolts for the animated side of things started. All of everything I do falls under the umbrella of "Outstanding Pajamas" which is going to be sort of the flagship series that I've been developing and working on for about two years now. Since that series is much larger and work intensive, I figured I'd start out with some smaller stuff. So there's the web comic (obvs), Outstanding Pajamas: Clubhouse Vigilantes, and the serial shorts Outstanding Pajamas: Vigilante DOA. My hope is that DOA's end will coincide with the launch of Outstanding Pajamas, and then that will run concurrently with another set of ongoing serial shorts, Outstanding Pajamas: Evil Means, which is based on an earlier web comic I did.

Anyway, so because I wanted to make the DOA shorts as little labor as possible, I'm doing "8 minute backgrounds" which are essentially 3D renderings with a coat of paint on 'em. lol

These are the two tests I just posted.

I used this method first in the original Evil Means web comic and I thought it would work well for quick shorts that happen around the city.

As you can see here, the backgrounds for Outstanding Pajamas are more comparable to traditional animation (and they've actually changed since this screen shot was taken -- so has the cat's name lol)

Production update: Received audio tracks back from the voice actors. Working on animating the first episode of Vigilante DOA.

Also should be getting back the first few page roughs from the artist on Clubhouse Vigilantes this week.
