Hey gang-

I haven't posted here in a very long time. Thought I'd give it a shot. I'm not really promoting anything just showing off some art. Feedback welcome.

Is it weird that my favorite is the PENCILS of the bookmarks? Really beautiful illustration. Almost wish you could see more of that under drawing through the colors. Curious if you used photo reference for those? The only thing I notice are the two on the left(of the bookmarks) feel like they have the hands coming in from a slightly off angle. It may be correct(why I was asking about the photo ref), but it feels more like they pulled in their arms uncomfortably to get their hands in the shot. Otherwise they're totally solid.
Really like the palette on the group shot(5tht image). Good stuff!

High compliments, thanks! I always enjoyed Jay's work on Aria.

You are absolutely right about the hands. They continue to bug me too. I did make sure the anatomy was connected relatively correctly outside of the cropped area. The client wanted the sword posed specifically in that fashion, covering half of the face and it left the arm positioning looking a bit awkward.
[Inside baseball - there a weird optical illusion going on with the incorrectly angled sword pummel piece that isn't helping things either. Something I didn't catch until too late, and by that point I was too pressed for time to change it.] This probably would have been a good place to use photo reference. Ah well.

Concerning photo references, none where used for the initial drawing. During the coloring process I referenced photos for general lighting or to check skin tone. One of my long standing goals as an artist has always been to develop the ability to draw believable figures from memory. It's an ongoing process.

I appreciate the feedback!
