Shepherd is a 12 issue series in 4 parts. The series is completed and was built with a team of fellow DW artists. The first 3 issues, "History," is being released as a free web comic to drum up interest.

To start the ball rolling, issue 1 has been fully released today, with issue 2 content beginning on May 1.

I like it so far. Very impressed with the artwork. Some good symbolism throughout. Although the story seems a bit disjointed at times and the dialogue a little awkward early on. Looking forward to more.

Thanks! The first 3 issues provide back story for the world and the connections to the present day: the first 4 pages of each of the three issues takes place in the current time (22nd century), setting up the main story. Then things take off with issue 4 when everything rolls in the future.

In order to set things up, the "disjointed" nature is by design: each of the 3 issues covers a breakdown of specific aspects that are key to the story and the world.

Hope you will come back for more in May when I start releasing issue 2.

At least you are getting the first 3 issues for free :har:

Cool. Are you self publishing this series? Is there a way to get a print copy of the first few issues now?

Not sure yet. Still trying to shop it around. All 12 issues are completed (except for covers - well first 3 were completed). The point to releasing the first three issues free, was to try and drum up interest: either from a publishing company, or just in general if I do self-publish. The series is written in 4 arcs, and I always intended to do something online with the first three issues. As I said, the first arc tells the backstory and history for where the story takes off in Issue 4. It was a reasonable way to define the world and then let the story maintain itself.

Shepherd is my third book: first two didn't get any interest so I did it on my own. "Inanimate", my first series, I released as a free web comic. "Order & Chaos" I released through comiXology Submit.

Have no problem with releasing it myself digitally. Just trying to push the limits and expand what I have done before. Obviously, having a publisher behind it and seeing it in print would be preferred though :)
