WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR
I am teaching a comic book class at a local high school and we're nearing the end of the semester. The students have written scripts and synopses and I would really like them to have a piece of artwork to show for their efforts and creative ideas. I can't afford to make full books, but I was hoping to get some covers done. I will need at least four covers but it could be as many as eight if the students can get their writing done in time.

I am looking for penciled cover art for their comic book stories. You would take their character descriptions and their story synopsis and create a cover for their comic book based on their writing.

MONEY
I am offering $25 per cover piece. I apologize that is so low but I am paying for this out of my own pocket so I am hoping to keep the costs down. However, the rate is somewhat negotiable. Make your argument when you submit and if the work justifies a higher rate, I will consider it. I would love it if you ink your own work, and of course, that would net you a higher rate. I will take this into account as we negotiate your rate.

This is work for hire. I will provide a simple contract for the piece and you will be invoiced. Provisions are made in the contract for you to retain the rights to sell the originals, and reproduce them on your website and/or other promotional material.

You will be paid at the completion of the work. Payment will be made via Paypal within 48 hours of uploading the final and approved artwork to my Google Drive.

ABOUT YOU
We have a lot of different stories with different styles so feel free to submit your best work or submit multiple looks. We will be taking a look at the submissions in class this week.

THE PROCESS
You will need to submit a thumbnail sketch for layout approval before the detail work begins. Then, you will complete and submit detailed work for final approval.

HOW TO APPLY
Please send samples of your cover art and sequential artwork to iamchrisdickens@gmail.com for consideration. Please put "Cover Art" or something in the title for reference.
