I like your rendering, line work, and upper-body anatomy but your layout and composition seem to be odd. His lower body also seems to have different sizes on his thighs. His posture is not very dynamic and he seems to be leaning on something. I first thought he was leaning on a chimney in a type of casual pose but then the "chimney" appears to be a building in the background or something oddly placed off the side of the rooftop. It's not a good overall idea to cut off the figure at a joint like this is at the ankles.
I look at the top half only and think "Awesome" and then I look at the overall piece and think "huh". I believe you have done a LOT of things right so don't take this badly but there are enough things that distract from your piece that it doesn't stand out as much as it could. |

Not bad...decent drawing ability, but it's just not a dynamic pose. He's not DOING anything. Might as well show us DD sitting down with a cup of tea.
An action shot is what you should be working on. Jumping, running, fighting. I used to do these kind of poses, too--when I was 15. This is DD [FYI--Daredevil is one word, not two]....not Aunt May. I guarantee you, an action shot will have more impact. Do that and show us more. Kurt Hathaway Cartoon Balloons Studio |

I like what I see here. You have a good beginning to your work, but there are some fundamentals you need to work on. I'm stating, in advance, that this critique is only to help you improve and I wouldn't take the time if I just felt like bashing, so please understand that my goal is to HELP, not hinder your progress.
1. Do more life drawing. From the different sized legs (one thigh is clearly longer than the other) to the hands that don't look like they can be holding anything (the right fist is closed to far on the billy club) and everything in between (the abs are off, the leg muscles need work, there are no feet), it all shows that you need to see some REAL things and draw them. It could be as simple as holding a stick for yourself in the mirror to get that right hand correct. You NEED to do that to learn how to draw these things without having to do that, if that makes sense. 2. Basic body dynamic rule number one: the chin always falls over the center of gravity. You have DD's head moved to the right side of the scene, yet his legs are obviously to the left of his head. This means he falls over. The center of gravity is between the heels if standing with weight on both legs (no hip tilt) or over a single heel if a body's weight is all on one leg (hips are tilted - the higher hip has the weight and that leg is straight, the other hip is lower and that leg is bent). Again, pose for this yourself in a mirror. Look at your relative chin to heel position when you do so. 3. Backgrounds need to look real. A good understanding of perspective is key here, but so is drawing real buildings. You have to know what real buildings look like. If you don't live in a city, there's always the internet - that's how I get nearly ALL of my ref. A believable BG helps the reader to immerse themselves in a scene. A poor BG pulls them out of the scene. I hope some of this helps you progress. Again, you have a good start. I'd like to see you progress. |
