Still getting responses from Patreon. They say that it happens, sometimes. They also told me that they have a PayPal option, which I was able to utilize.

Over a year and a half late to the party, but I'm on Patreon now! Well, my company, Last Ember Press, is. Our main goal right now for Patreon is to fund some webcomics we are eager to do.

Patreon.com/LastEmberPress

I'll have to check out the rest in this thread now. Been a while since I've been around DW. heh

Morganza has disabled reputation

I didn't know this was a thing here, I am currently writing and scribbling a comic of my own, it has horror - fantasy - sci fi- erotica all in one story. I just finished writing the treatment and have moved on to the script, I'm writing the script as a screenplay as I plan on shopping it around the low budget/ indy horror circuit. But this will be a comic first, and I hope to fund enough money for a kickstarter campaign with Patreon.

Be warned if you become a patron, there will be nudity at the very least and all things lurid and diabolical in between.

I'm also new to this Patreon thing. Is this like Kickstarter? I'm still reading on the site.

Not exactly. Kickstarter works around getting a lot of money fast for a single project, whereas Patreon is more about smaller, consistent amounts to fund your works in general. Someone told me a lot of Patreon supporters do it because they are fans, whereas with Kickstarter the rewards are key.

Yeah, my understanding is that Kickstarter is specific project driven... So you have an end-goal of a big thing you need to fund... and to help entice people to contribute you offer bonus things at certain contribution levels.

With Patreon, there is no specific end-goal... instead, you can setup different plateaus at which a contributor gets a thing. You can, for instance do a weekly comic strip and everyone who contributes gets to see the comic early, before you sell/post it elsewhere. That's it. No more no less. You can also set contribution levels where each patron gets a sketch or whatever for each month's contribution.

I'm not on there, but I've looked into it because of knowing some people who are on there. It does kinda seem like you already have to be someone known to get a lot of patrons, though. I don't see too many first-timers signing up and getting lots of initial contributions even if they are doing incredible work.

Been thinking about it for years, and now I'm creating one. Not expecting anything, but am in it for the long haul, therefore am not fretting.
