I'm on there too. I'm also new at this and really unfamiliar with a lot of it. But I like what I see. It's not over run like face book. And you know what you're getting when you go there just to browse.

I've got it set to monthly instead by creation and the reason I do that is because I'm constantly uploading artwork so I figured I would just make the patreon more so about the process than just about showing the pretty art. I'm guessing that's what most of the comic creators are doing as well as videos.

I do have my reservations about it but I figured I might as well try it out anyway. Also I haven't completely finished the videos but they are coming.

All the proceeds of my Patreon campaign go toward paying artists - because good work is expensive, and I respect the comic community too much to lowball talent.

Rewards include early access to comics as webcomics and print copies mailed to patrons as they're available.

My Patreon is to help fund the creation of new finished illustrations and help me shift from work for hire to original content (pinups, fantasy illustrations, erotica, and eventually my own comic book pages).

Its currently set to monthly, as I'm still dealing with a lot of work for hire projects and haven't been able to produce content specifically for patreon. But I've been giving patrons access to my work for hire and behind the scenes (for example, patrons got to see the development of my movie posters for 20th Century Fox), anything that clients have given me permission to share. And they get advance access to finished commission illustrations too.

Ideally I'd like to be creating original content fulltime. Support on there would help ensure that, and would also go towards needed supplies and equipment.
