How do I frame art with lettering overlay?
I'm doing a comic book art show in November.
For the show, I have 3 types of comic art 1) Original Art with lettering on the board. 2) Original art with no lettering on the board (digitally lettered) 3) Digital art with digital lettering 1) is ready to frame as it is. 3) will be printed at original art size (11 x 17) and framed My problem is 2). I could treat them as 3) and just print out the art and frame it, but I really want to show the progression from pure original art to digital and the merger of the digital and analog. Any ideas that don't involve permanently altering the original art boards?

Can you print on acetate, or transparency and lay it over the artwork? That's how we used to do animations with word bubbles at a small ad agency I worked at year's ago...

You could try to mimic old school lettering by printing on velum. It won't be able to go through the printer on its own, so gently tape it down to a piece of cardstock to feed through if you are using an inkjet, or just lightly gluestick it in place if using a laser.

I would use three objects:
1) original art 2) printout of scanned art, reduced to a light gray or blue, with lettering on top 3) final page You could then either frame them each individually, or have a mat with three openings in a single frame, like this: ![]()

I'm trying to avoid using mats and additional framing costs.
