Oh my god! Brand new pages of Zatswan are on the way!

I rarely post work in progress stuff, but I felt like taking a quick snapshot with my phone for some reason:

You can read the rest of the story at my website. The beginning is here:

Here is another work in progress page. I'm coloring this one with Arteza colored pencils. I recently got them delivered and am excited to try them out. So far I'm loving them! This page was inked with microns and pigma professional brush pens. I still need to do some inking and penciling to add detail in spots.

How are the Arteza pencils compared to Prismacolors? ...cause I love Prismacolors.

Better.

From what I am able to tell so far, the pigmentation appears to be just as strong and Arteza is a fraction of the price. Prismacolors suffer from poor quality control. They have serious breakage issues. People have been saying this for a long time, but I did not experience it until recently when I bought my last pack of Prismacolors. What happens is you sharpen a pencil, and then you go to use it, but the entire tip breaks off. So you sharpen it again. And the same thing happens. And you sharpen it again, and the same thing happens! Next thing you know, you have half a pencil left. In a set of 36 pencils I bought, I have encountered 3 pencils where this is a problem.

The pros of Arteza pencils:
They are way cheaper than Prismacolors.
The pigmentatiom is just as strong as Prismacolor, or to a point where it makes little difference.
They blend just as well as Prismacolor.
They don't break.

The cons of Arteza:
They smell weird when you first get them, but that goes away after a while.

The pros of Prismacolor:
They are easily available.
You can buy them open stock.
There are more colors available.

The cons:
They break.
They're more expensive.

Long story short, I don't think I will be buying Prismacolors again. I don't see a reason. Coloring is a fun activity. I do it for hours on end because it's enjoyable. But when you get defective pencils it totally takes you out of your zone and introduces drama.

I recommend trying Arteza pencils out. They're really affordable and perform just as well as Prismacolors without the breakage.

If you do use Prismacolors, I recommend sharpening them with an automatic electric sharpener. They seem to hold up much better through those. There are big advantages to hand sharpeners, but Prismacolors sometimes can't seem to deal with them well. I tried two different sharpeners, and one was brand new, so I know the issue wasn't a defective sharpener.

Here is a video that talks more about the problem with Prismacolors. I saw the video a while back, but, like I said, didn't experience the problem until very recently. Now I can say that it DOES exist.

Well into the coloring phase here, but with the way I do things, I often do inking while coloring.

One thing I'm super excited about is using these Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer Watercolor Pencils. I am just about at the part where I am going to use them!

These are probably my personal favorite watercolor pencils, so it's nice to have more. I only had a small 6 pack prior to this. I often use Caran d'Ache Museum Aquarelle, which are nice, too, but sometimes a bit too brilliant. They are the most brilliant watercolor pencil by far, which is great when you want that.

I oftentimes use Derwent Watercolor pencils, which, honestly, I don't like near as much, but they are considerably cheaper than the Faber Castells or the C'aran Dache. But I'm planning on phasing out my Derwents for the Faber Castells. Just have to keep building my collection of those up more.

I see you're using the crowquill and ink. Cool. I used to use it back in the day but switched to the tech pens.
