Thanks! I come from a Technical Illustration and Writing background professionally... so my strengths lean towards technical aspects, perspective, and layout/design.

I've always been a doodler, though, and I'm trying to round out my other skills to be able to do more cartooning/comic work as well as the stuff I'm already experienced at doing.

I'm glad to hear that it shows I'm growing... I feel like I'm getting better at a lot of different things, especially as I start each new drawing and I feel like I learned a way to do it better than the previous one.

As they say, practice practice practice!

I changed the theme on my blog a couple of days ago... which meant I needed to make some new headers for it. I don't think I ever shared my old theme headers here, but I think both of these new ones are quite a bit better than anything I had before.

The first one is obviously (for those who know about it) filled with characters from my Web comic strip, 'Sects. The second one is a bunch of random digital doodles I did with my old Wacom tablet.

A long time ago, right here in this very galaxy... I drew an AT-AT... then I drew an R2-D2... and I said I was going to draw a C-3PO... but I did not.

Instead, I stayed up all night drawing this BB-8... and even threw in a little bit of shadow this time. Now my R2 has a friend.

I am inspired to see amazing artwork here. Which tools do you use for the creation of such cartoons?

Thank you! In this case (and most of the time actually) I use Adobe Illustrator. I'm most comfortable there as it is where I spent most of my professional career drawing technical illustrations.

Thanks! I had fun with this one... not as many details as some of the other Star Wars stuff I've drawn, but enough little details in the right places to keep things interesting while working on it.

Last year we had three Friday the 13th instances... I drew various Jason hockey masks for each of them. For today, I went in a slightly different direction... a little silly... but if you look, you can still see Jason "loving it!"

I also wonder if it's weird that I'm actually most proud of how the plate looks?

A commission for a friend... she didn't request anything specific, just wanted me to draw her and somehow incorporate her love of blue butterflies... so I decided to draw her as the Blue Fairy, floating inside a magic bubble.

I'll write more about this on my blog at some point this week.

Something I'm about to throw onto Facebook in a minute... a meme explaining the secret behind the recent Captain America controversy... It was all right there in front of everyone, just needed to zoom in!

Oh know... retro-continuity and secret-badguy-ness has struck once again... as popular DC character Martian Manhunter now reveals his own nefarious secret!

Hail Hydrox!

An idea I've had simmering for a while and haven't really had time or vision to figure out what to do with it... but this weekend I sat down and started some drawings. Whenever I have something more to say, I'll launch something in the Projects area...

For now... here's a drawing (work in progress) of an old comic book store Capitol Comics from Raleigh, NC. This location actually no longer exists, closed a few years back and the whole operation consolidated at the owner's second store location. Sadly this building no longer exists, so we only have photos (and now this drawing).

I also drew the sign in the window a little bit larger because it was an iconic thing back in the day that helped people easily spot this store.

I wrote a little bit more on my blog if you want to read the whole thing... More details to come as the project develops.

For anybody wondering... Spidey still is a work in progress also. I'm not just trying to draw Spider-Man, but draw him as he existed on that old sign... so as I'm tweaking to try and fix the glitches, I'm not going to make him perfect... just a better match for the real sign.

I'm working from low-res photographs, so I was having trouble figuring out the exact pose, which tripped me up on some of the webbing details on the costume. I believe I have a better handle on the pose now, and whenever I get those issues addressed I'll post updated versions of the pictures to reflect the corrections I'm in the process of making.
