Cool to see a lot of sketches....BUT vary the angle. They are all Portrait shots, straight on. How about some profile or 3/4 shots.

Thanks... yeah, those are in the queue. I was originally going to mix it up a bit, but though it might be better for me to stick with one view to get consistent repetitive practice in before adding another.

There is one way up there, that isn't 3/4 but is kind of from a slight downward angle... it's subtle from the direction of the shoulders and the render of the nose... but I've mostly been doing straight on for the ones I've been posting.

I'll probably start tackling some profiles soon... then mix in a few odd angles. Working with these at smaller sizes like this, I find the portraits and angles to be more challenging than I was initially ready for... less room for error on those than on the straight-on views... and I didn't want to frustrate myself by starting with the difficult views until I had a confident handle on the portraits.

I feel like I'm really close to being ready to move on to the bigger challenge now, though based on some pencil work I've been doing the last few days that I haven't yet posted for anyone to see.

Taking a drawing break... also staying up way too late... so I was in a weird mood and made a meme... mostly because I just like Constance Zimmer!

Something quick and hand-drawn in honor of the unfortunate news of Adam West's passing this weekend. I figured hand-drawn was the way to go for this one.

A quick political thing I whipped up yesterday due to things happening last weekend and this week. It's not everyone's cup of tea and has already seen a mixed reaction on Facebook when I posted it there last night...

Donald Trump decides he likes wind-turbine power after all, even if he can't quite put his finger on why...

That's funny. I started laughing, as soon as I saw the swastikas. I really don't care for the coloring, but you do have some skill in the field of political cartooning.

Thanks

It's mostly flat coloring in Illustrator where I drew it. I was going quick & dirty and trying to get it done and up on Facebook while it was relevant.

When I have more time, I need to work on a looser style to use for these political cartoons so I can do them quicker and give them more of an organic feel. This one might have looked better if I'd done it by hand instead of on the computer actually.

Off and on the past few months I've been working on some Sketch cards for this year's Island Dreams Mardi Gras themed charity card set. For more info about the set and to see some other contributing artists' cards, check out http://www.islanddreamscards.com

I finally got my twenty cards inked this week. Just need to splash them with the colors and then they will be ready to send off for inclusion in the packs that will be available in November for purchase. This will be the first official sketch card set that I'm a part of, and it's all for charity so good stuff all around.

Finished up the coloring on my 2017 Island Dreams Sketch cards the other night and got them all mailed off today. Some of the art stands out a bit better now that there is color in there to define things a bit more.

My personal favorite is the next to last one, the perspective building. That's more my traditional forte, the drawing of stuff! My favorite of the characters is the girl with the yellow background. Most of the girls I drew without reference, so they are nobody in particular... and I varied the styles a bit... but my favorite one looks like maybe she actually could be based on someone.

An idea that popped into my head this afternoon... some quick Internet searching and I couldn't find any evidence of anyone else having done this... so I whipped this one out in Illustrator this afternoon.

They call him... Mister Captain Rogers

Something quick a digitally illustrated for Batman Day 2017. One of these years I'm going to know it's Batman day before the last minute and be able to spend more time on something for the day... but, still, I kind of like how this one turned out anyway.

Running slightly behind... but Day one of Inktober 2017 is a Flash portrait based on the Rod Haase Flash from the 1979 Legends of the Superheroes TV show.

I actually did this for another reason as well... October 14th in Troy, NC will be the Troy Library Mini-Con. One of the things they are doing there is having a raffle to raise money for the actor Rod Haase who has been battling cancer. There was a call out to people who wanted to donate prizes and items to raffle as well as asking if any artists wanted to donate any works towards the effort. I am unable to attend the convention, but I promised to send something to help out... so this illustration is one of the things I will be sending their way in time for the convention in a couple of weeks.

The drawing itself was created in pencil + various Sharpies for ink + color on 9x12-in Canson 98lb paper, and it's one of the larger hand-drawn items I've drawn. I figured this was a good way to kick off Inktober this year with an illustration for a good cause.

If you are anywhere near Troy, NC on October 14th please drop by the show and contribute to the cause. Check out their Facebook page for more info about the convention.

Still running behind, which is ironic because I've drawn Flash twice now... Day 2 of Inktober is a sketch card this time. This one is also being donated to the fundraising efforts at the Troy Library Mini-Con in Troy, NC on October 14th.

Inktober Day 3... not caught up yet, but still plugging along. Another sketch card, this time of Plastic Man. The best thing about Plastic Man is you can draw him as anything you want... like a comfy chair!

Inktober Day 4, a Calvin sketch card... of Bill Watterson fame... loved that comic strip back in the day!
