Nice! Was the hiding of the feet an homage to Liefeld?

for real...its "just".

no...I actually had this idea of having them standing in flames (because it was all about fighting dark phoenix in the book to follow) and I had this neat visual of flames everywhere leaping up in front of them as well..but I couldn't figure it out. couldn't find a way to make it look neat like I envisioned it.. then I got lazy...figures started sucking more than I mean to.. like shatterstar and crooked colossus there...and I just kinda half assed it in the end. I spent so much time doing my version of hyper detailing Cable there that I let everything else fail. I liked it at the time..but all I see is whats wrong. oh well...it was still fun and part of something that I find incredibly satisfying to have been part of.

Not too shabby, Rob. I get a little Arthur Adams vibe off some of the characters, definitely NOT a bad vibe to have for sure!

I'm back on studying the character's design.
From my first hasty attempt to a new revisited version based on Mignola's original sketches. Trying to get closer.
After doing some research, I must agree Hellboy is a really great choice for a DW group's project.

Much more Mignola-esque than the first version, nice!

hey guys...
so...as some of you may remember, back when we did the last 2 group projects.. the covers were a kinda a big deal, in that we wanted them to look the best we could make them.
for issue 1, my pal (and former DW member) Izik Bell did the lines to a big double splash page cover that he and I paid a great colorist Jesse Heagy to finish. it came out awesome.

then on issue 2, I reached out to professional artist and DW member Renae De Liz and she offered to pencil a cover to issue two, which I inked and had several colorists put finishing touches on. it came out AMAZING.

so...now..for this new project, I reached out to DW member and professional artist Matt Triano, and offered the cover to him. and he said he would be willing to do that.

I gotta say...that's really really awesome. if we can find a really good colorist to finish his work when we get it... this will REALLY start to look like an actual comic book. and Ed Dukeshire offered to do some lettering as well... seriously guys...

this is getting VERY exciting for me. I hope it is for all of you as well.

I have the opening scene layed out that sets up the whole book and I'm ready to start drawing the damn thing as soon as I can find some time to get going.

very excited guys..

rob
