Writing for future Womanthology project
Name: Bree
Website: http://geekmylife.blogspot.com Email Address: helpgeekmylife@gmail.com A Little About Yourself: I'm no one special or unique, except to those who know me (that's what they tell me). My job is a teacher; however, I want my career to be writing and geekdom. I'm a Christian feminist, and I firmly believe we women are made for more than standing in the sidelines while the boys fight all the crime. Worked on a Womanthology Project before?: I wish. Sample of Work: A handful of commonplace soldiers is promoted to a god-like status once they start protecting a city of post-apocalyptic refugees; one of these soldiers must battle not only the enemies that cross the borders, but also her husband's (a fellow soldier) advances to redeem their marriage. |

Website: http://japandroidsconundrum.tumblr.com/ Email Address: mhmhart42 (at) gmail.com A Little About Yourself: I just graduated from college with a dual degree in English and Philosophy (I know, I know, I have no idea what to do with that) and right now, I'm working as a reader at a publishing company in NYC. Worked on a Womanthology Project before?: Nope, but definitely would love to. Sample of Work: (1) Two friends who have just graduated from college--lacking any other prospects--decide to open and run a supernatural funeral home. (2) Jack is in the middle of breaking up with Zoey--all she does is play Left 4 Dead!--when the zombie apocalypse ostensibly arrives at his doorstep. |

Worked on a Womanthology Project before?: Nope. Sample of Work: Give me ONE tagline example for a story if you were to write a short story for Womanthology (meaning a sentence or paragraph describing your idea). The idea isn't for final use, just gives me an example to go by!: A female blacksmith's apprentice learns that strength is more than just a hand full of steel. |

Been a comicbook fan all of my life. LOVE the Superheroine genre along with police procedurals, crime dramas, thriller/mystery/detective tv shows & movies. Worked on a Womanthology Project before?: Nope. But if I did, I'd be glad to prove to my mom that I CAN be a comicbook writer. Sample of Work: The sequel to the "Mask" story blurb is, here. Brief spoilers for the story to follow: Josephine "Jo" Silvers isn't your average medical examiner. By day, she solves crimes with her partner and soulmate, Detective Katherine "Katie" Mallory, and by night, unknown to the intrepid gossip columnist Jessica Stein, she's one of the last known Superheroines in town, to have her face plastered on the tabloids. When a mysterious woman comes into town the day of both her 25th birthday and her step-father's sudden death, she will have to find the courage within herself to accept her real parent's destiny. Will she accept it? Only you will know! Tune in! Here's a tagline/blurb thing from the original "Mask" story: *I brushed a strand of hair from her face aside, “I’m not perfect Katy, and I don't expect you to be; but I’ve found out, that I have these powers for a reason. I'm here to make the world right. And that’s all that matters for now.” |

Website: http://www.grangrimoire.com Email Address: tanekastotts@grangrimoire.com A Little About Yourself: I'm just an ex-slam poet looking for a new venue to sling my words. I've been lucky enough to travel quite a few places before finally finding a new home. I currently reside in Portland Oregon where I spend my days juggling IT work, a partner, two cats, and comics. Worked on a Womanthology Project before?: No. Sample of Work:Time flies when it's not relative to the space you occupy anymore. However for one girl racing to get home it's all too apparent. Where a second can equal a day and minutes hasten into a year, your judgment must be quick if you want to make it home by dinnertime. |

Worked on a Womanthology Project before?: No, but I really loved reading it! Sample of Work: I have a character who works babysitting kids who are traveling on spaceships to join their parents on newly terraformed planets, so I would love to do a comic about her. Though I have other ideas as well. |

Worked on a Womanthology Project before?: Sadly no. I just donated. Sample of Work: When reaching into her purse, something bit Brooke's finger. Name: Katie Doyle
Website: http://katiedoyle.tumblr.com/ Email Address: katiedoyle82@yahoo.com A Little About Yourself: I went to a performing arts high school where I majored in writing. My teachers wouldn't let us write sci-fi and fantasy because they're not "real" writing. Challenge accepted...since then, I've taken a lot of joy in writing Firelfly spinoff spec scripts, surrealist plays, fake superhero comics, children's books, fantasy stories, and sci-fi shorts. Really, just anything that comes into my head. In between all of that, I read a lot of books, watch a lot of television, and this semester (I hope!) I'll be graduating college with a degree in early childhood education. Worked on a Womanthology Project before?: Nope! Sample of Work: 11-year-old Joss thinks January has to be the most boring month of the year, until an alien crash lands in her back yard, enlists Joss's help as a mechanic, and takes her on a trip she'll never forget. |
