Super - The Official Thread

Hi Guys! I just wanted to share this project I'm working on entitled Super.

Official Site:www.jaycrowcomics.com.
Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/jaycrowcomics
Twitter:https://twitter.com/crognus

This is my first work and I'm excited to share it with you guys! I was inspired to write this comic to break out of the superhero norm: Our protagonist finds out he has powers. He learns how to use them against some small baddies. A big baddie appears to test his strength. Our protagonist, against all odds, rises triumphant.

These sorts of stories are great! It has been the basis of almost all science fiction, fantasy, and super hero genres for a long, long time. But I wanted to do something different.

Super is about a young man with super powers in a real world setting. There are no super villains. There will be no easy weaknesses for arch-enemies to exploit (e.g. Krytonite). Instead, the weaknesses our hero faces are self-doubt, the inability to see the long term consequences of his actions, and the ever present question, "Am I doing the what I'm supposed to?" With infinite power comes infinite possibilities and choices, but no clear answers.

My project is set to finish in August and I will be displaying it at my booth at SLC Comicon 2014.

Before I show you some pages from the work, I would just like to give some credit where credit is due.

Artist: Bruno Chiroleu
Colorist: Matteo Baldrighi
Letterer: Chas! Pangburn

I would also like to thank Ed Dukeshire for creating such an awesome site! Without it, I never would have been able to find such wonderful artists!

Sounds good!

Are you only selling it at cons?

No, I plan on running a Kickstarter in August to fund physical prints and backers will receive physical or digital prints if it is successful (depending on how much they donate). I will also try to get it on Comixology once it is finished. I will try to make it as available as possible to anyone interested, but it can be difficult to self-finance prints if you're just a regular nine to fiver, haha.

This looks very interesting! I'm intrigued! (And I'm not easily intrigued.)

Glad to catch your interest! It's definitely feel it has been a little harder to write than traditional storylines. I've had this idea kicking around in my head for over 5 years, but I wanted to make sure I had enough coherent and interesting story arcs for it before I started the project.

Wow! I didn't realize right away that you were THE Steven Forbes, haha. I often read your Proving Grounds on ComixTribe. I remember right after writing the initial rough draft of this script, I spent all night reading through the Proving Grounds archives. I didn't get to bed until 5 in the morning.

It was my first comic script, and I was trying to familiarize myself with what sort of rookie mistakes to avoid.
