So I had an idea for a funny... but it required me to draw something else first.
The something else? A Boris Karloff inspired Frankenstein! ![]() |

So... after doing that... I got to combine it with an old drawing of mine for a new funny...
It's Christmas and Halloween and a Marvel Mash-up with... Franken-Sense! ![]() ![]() |

Decided to take a crack at another Universal Monster... This time it's the Creature from the Black Lagoon!
![]() I remember this being one of my favorites as a kid, moreso than Frankenstein and Dracula, though probably not more than the Wolfman. |

Time I did something on paper again. Pencil, pen, and markers to color it this time even... I call it "The Two Jacks" because it has Jack Skellington and a Jack O'Lantern.
![]() The more I look at it, the more I like it... but I still think I'm stronger working digitally to finish things most of the time. If I had finished this digitally, for example, I could have adjusted Jack Skellington to be a little taller/thinner. I was limited here by the dimensions of the paper once I had started inking and realized I should have picked a larger sheet! FYI, the original looks a bit better than the scan. What is harder to see is the pumpkin has some yellow highlights and orange under the red shows through a bit better than it did on the scanned image too. |

So, watching Doctor Who the other night I got an idea... and that meant I had to draw me a Tardis!

And once I had my Tardis done... I could draw something that nobody (not even Doctor Who fans) have ever demanded...

In honor of Friday the 13th... here is the mask of Jason X!
![]() I drew hockey masks for the first two Friday the 13th days earlier this year. I wanted to just draw the mask here... but it looked empty so I filled in those red/yellow beady eyes. I didn't draw the rest of the head, though, because I really just liked the look of the mask. |

Thank you!
I hadn't made any animated GIFs in a while, so this felt like a natural. |

I like the line art and colors you're putting on the classic horror characters. Makes for unique designs.

Thank you. Since I'm not trying to do hyper-realistic drawings of people (monsters) I'm also not aiming for 100% accurate lighting or reality in coloring. I am aiming for more than just flat colors, to give a little depth to things... and a lot of what I do is trying some things and then going to the other side of the room and seeing how it looks from a distance until I like what I'm seeing.

Hey nice work on Frankenstein and his bride, you've captured a good likeness in your line-art Stewart.

I need to at some point start working variable weights into my line art. I've been tinkering with it, since Illustrator now lets you adjust line weights along a stroke after the fact... but I haven't found a working method that brings consistency to it that I like just yet. |
