XMEN 2 FINAL ART thread DW group project

okay guys. there is a page or 2 here or there missing still.
GRENDEL for example, is still working on his pages, which are a HUGE set up to the beginning of the story which has a big pay off at the END of the story. and a few other pages from 1 or 2 other guys.

but I really just want to get the majority of this thing up to see...with the BIG images to enjoy. so I will add the rest when the come in.

I gotta say, once again, I am VERY proud and happy with doing part 2 of this group project with you guys here on Digitalwebbing.
(and now we can all shift to working on the Digitalwebbing Illustrated book that ED is putting together.

but doing this has been a joy for me, seeing the story I crafted (simple as it is) brought to life by you amazing artists. I certainly plan to try putting together part 3 down the road a bit. hopefully all you guys will come back.

so anyway...here we go.. and to start... one of my favorite parts of this whole gig, a COVER penciled by WONDERWOMAN/DC artist Renae De Liz, who was super badass in taking time to contribute to the project.
inks by ME, and amazing coloring by Sam Santos.
I got a lot of colored versions of this cover, and a lot were really really good, but since im running this thing, I chose MY favorite to act as the actual COVER for the book.

so that's the end of the main story of this issue. what follows here is like an Marvel movie "mid credit" teaser for the NEXT ISSUE. setting up things to come.

and this..the only solo art contribution I have done for this project...what might end up being the cover for issue 3... a "sign of things to come". pencils and inks by me...

dannycruz has disabled reputation

that came out really cool
only nitpick is that i would've like to have seen the artist name or link either above the pages they did of maybe listed in order in the first post. i recognize some of the artists just on what they drew but not all of them like the the second to last one for example. looks cool but no idea who drew it..

you can kinda blame me for that.

when I started this one, I DID ask that everyone put their names on the pages somewhere so people can see WHO did it. that was for the exact reason you mentioned. some folks did..some didn't.

but this took SO much time anyway, from resizing the originals to a viewable size, to uploading each and every one on Deviantart, and THEN linking them here with those stupid [/img] tags... I was just done by the end of the night. I wasn't going to list everyones names separately. SO.. that's why that happened.

BUT..that pages you mention, with Reed Richards was done by the amazing awesome James Allen, who sent me his second page just this morning and it looks super incredible..and it will be up by tonight when I get home.

thanks "Angry Pencil". this was definitely a fun project to coordinate and take part in. and everyone that participated was awesome as hell.

we will certainly do part 3. the FINALE of this story. wrap it all up in some way.. it will be awesome.

maybe we can start it next summer. I need some time away for a minute. it may not seem like it, but coordinating this thing is somewhat of a time intensive endeavor. I need a break.. :O)

but it WILL be continued...

very glad to have you onboard Duane. issue 3 will be awesome when we get to that. im thinking we need to hold off a while (which was my plan anyway) so those of us that want to take part in the Digitalwebbing book that Ed is putting together can do so. don't want to have us all trying to do to much at once.

but we will do it. maybe next fall.

Wow, great job putting this all together, Rob! You made it happen, for a second time!
Judging by that epilogue page by RobS (I think), you're going to be throwing the whole Marvel U at this thing. I call dibs on Power Man and Iron Fist! Anyway, that's a really nice double page spread- I think I like Mr. Sinister's sinister look the best.
And the James Allen final pages look really interesting. He's got a unique style and makes good use of those background models. Nice clean linework! Though I am struck by what a sausage fest it is up in that Baxter Building. Maybe you could have thrown some female heroes in there to spice things up. Unless you're going for a Woman raging against Man's World angle, which I think works well with Dark Phoenix.
And Rob's final "cover" is crackling with energy and looks suitably epic. Havok is gonna kick some ass.
Epic DW Collaboration, guys!
